Injury Management
WorkStrong’s injury management model is centered upon an on-site clinic where our Worksite Injury Specialist are capable of assessing your Workforce in the environment that is causing them dysfunction and able to provide real-time solutions. During implementation of the program our team will recommend the number of on-site clinic days per week required to service your employees healthcare needs, managements goals.

Our traditional model focuses on non-disruptive 20 minute appointment times that get the employee pain relief and back on the job as quickly as possible. These appointments will focus on interventions specific to the the employees needs but will mostly include myofascial release, stretching, strengthening and ergonomic education.  Our Injury Specialists are capable of seeing upwards of 24 people per day in an 8 hour shift.  In times where the Injury Specialist is not seeing a patient the Injury Specialist will be assessing different workstations and developing constant ergonomic improvements to help minimize future injuries.

This program does not add to your workload. WorkStrong manages logistics, collects data, and reports outcomes associated with your customized healthcare program.

Biomechanical examinations and functional movement assessments (FMA’s) are at the heart of WorkStrong’s injury assessments.  Small measurable biomechanical tightness’s and weaknesses are assessed in our model and allow us to catch problems early. Catching musculoskeletal problems early reduce the likelihood of these problems escalating into major ailments causing long term disability, increased WCB claims, and reduced overall productivity. As an example; treating a minor low back strain in the early stages with an handful of stretching and massage/active release sessions prevents it from becoming a life altering disc bulge at a later date.
"Delaying medical care can negitively impact health and increase the cost of care. People who can't get the care they need may have more prevtable compications, hospitalizations, emotional stress, and higher costs"

The Injury Management program will improve your employee’s access and affordability to healthcare. We also offer a telehealth service where our licensed health care team will Triage cases with our PIPEDA compliant software.  Employee’s can schedule an online appointment on their smart phones or laptops when the assigned provider is not on location. This helps the employee get recommendations prior to leaving work and entering a medical facility.

Retain and attract top talent

Employers offering on-site Injury prevention and Management will improve your Employee Value Proposition, hence attracting and retaining top talent. Increased morale and employee engagement motivates employees to perform at their best. "Organizations with high employee engagement outperform those with low employee engagement by 202%." As per
Business2Community

Examples of expected outcomes:

  • A mild shoulder strain that is causing daily discomfort and lost productivity is easier to treat than a rotator cuff tear.  These mild shoulder strains are easily detectable and thus the more costly rotator cuff tear is avoidable.
  • A mild low back sprain/strain is avoidable thru core strengthening and daily back stretching. It is far less expensive than a lumbar disc surgery.  Lumbar disc surgeries are a large reason for long term disability in the workplace.  Approximately 40% of MSD claims in WCB involve low back pain.
  • Workstation modifications like an ergonomic keyboard are far less disruptive than carpal tunnel surgery.  Alberta Heath data sheets describes that there is an expected 1 full year recovery time to return to normal following carpal tunnel surgery. What would your typing productivity be during that time?
